About Us

Founded in 1997, the Ridgway Heritage Council continues to protect the integrity and promote the rich history of our town, creating a proud community for current and future generations to cherish.

The council’s dedication to maintaining a prosperous community through the preservation and education of our precious heritage and abundant natural resources, in addition to community engagement and advocacy, has made great strides for our historic town. Their work has directly resulted in multi-million dollars of investments in Ridgway’s commercial and residential real estate, as well as successfully completing downtown beautification projects and recruiting many new businesses. The Ridgway Heritage Council strives to bring the community together to share in the joy of our history, hosting events and sharing initiatives that connect residents and visitors with the past. Educational programs, guided tours, and informative resources for all ages have all been established to celebrate our community’s history. Our council is always advocating for the preservation of our small town's historical assets, collaborating with local government and organizations to ensure that our heritage is respected and preserved.

Like many small rural towns in Pennsylvania, Ridgway has evolved over time. Once known for its booming economy through timber and logging during its frontier times, our hard work and heartful spirit have remained intact through passionate council members, local entrepreneurs, and an active community.
